FANTASY FOOTBALL DEFENSES/SPECIAL TEAMS TO TARGET

Number 11 – Kansas City Chiefs

2018 Fantasy Points Ranking: 7th

2018 Points Allowed Ranking: 24th

Although many will look at this as a surprise rank for the Chiefs, you might also find it surprising that the Chiefs D/ST actually finished seventh in fantasy points last season even though they had an atrocious defense.

The Chiefs special teams are one of the better in the league and it only got better this offseason. With guys like Tyreek Hill, Mecole Hardman, and Tremon Smith on the roster, there is always a threat on the field who could return one to the house.

Also, the actual defense should be better this year with the additions of Frank Clark, Tyrann Mathieu, Juan Thornhill, and maybe the most important addition is the addition by subtraction of Bob Sutton.

The Chiefs have a stacked pass rush with Frank Clark and Chris Jones both finishing in the top seven in sacks last season, they have threats in the secondary with one of the best slot corners in the league (Kendall Fuller) and one of the most versatile safeties in the league (Tyrann Mathieu).

They have arguably the best special teams unit in the league. This ranking may end up even being too low, but it’s always good to stay humble Chiefs fans!

The Chiefs defense likely won’t be that hot of a commodity in fantasy football despite being a top-eight ranked fantasy D/ST last season because of how bad they were in real life. But with this newfound information, you could sneakily grab an effective D/ST that you will enjoy watching each week. Don’t get too antsy and grab the Chiefs defense too early though. As mentioned above they won’t be a hot commodity so you should be able to pick them in round 14 of typical 15-round drafts.

This should be a much more exciting season than last year on the defensive side of the ball, so feel free to enjoy watching them on the field and plugging them into your fantasy roster each week Chiefs Kingdom!
