Adding young corner to the group makes sense long term even if short term impact is minimal.

I would likely look to add Boston College’s Hamp Cheevers to the roster as an option to learn and develop, even doing so knowing he’s not likely to come in and start or even contribute in 2019.
While it can be argued Cheevers made a mistake entering the draft after his junior season, a year of development could provide a contributor in 2020.
Now, I don’t know what Cheevers looked like at the workout, so it’s possible the Chiefs didn’t like what they saw during the offseason tryout and they have instead turned their eyes elsewhere.
Maybe they will make a trade with a team using someone such as Demarcus Robinson to acquire a young corner. Is there a veteran on the outs with their organization able to provide depth and experience?
You have to feel for Reaser, having injuries apparently ended his chances of making an NFL roster in the past two seasons. But there are options out there to replace him, perhaps already on the roster or they are simply looking for that chance.
