In the 2019 season, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will face numerous dangerous pass rushes.

Outside of the five previously discussed, the Chiefs will also face:

More from Kansas City Chiefs

  • The Green Bay Packers, who signed defensive end Za’Darius Smith and drafted EDGE Rashan Gary out of Michigan;
  • The Indianapolis Colts, a team that boasts Darius Leonard, Denico Autry, and former Chief Justin Houston;
  • The Tennessee Titans, led by the young pass rusher Harold Landry;
  • The Los Angeles Chargers, with Melvin Ingram at the forefront; and
  • The New England Patriots, who always seem to have something up their sleeves.

That’s not all.

In Week 4, the Chiefs travel to Detroit, a team on the rise that added Trey Flowers in the offseason. The Baltimore Ravens, whom the Chiefs host in Week 3, had their defense picked over in free agency, but always put out a good pass rush.

And the Oakland Raiders can’t be any worse than they were in 2018 when they collected only 13 sacks and 48 quarterback hits. Rookies Clelin Ferrell out of Clemson and Maxx Crosby out of Eastern Michigan will immediately jolt that dormant pass rush.

Four running backs Chiefs must stop in 2019. dark. Next

Overall, the Chiefs face at least a decent pass rush in every game, it seems. The offensive line, led by tackles Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz, will need to have nothing less than stellar seasons in order to keep Mahomes upright. And Mahomes will need to continue, if not improve, on his incredible 2018 season for the Chiefs to navigate past these tough pass rushes.
