TIER 1: CONTENDERS

1. New England Patriots

Did you really expect anything different here? Yes, Tom Brady is 107 years old, Rob Gronkowski has retired, and Julian Edelman is facing a four-game suspension. This is the year the Patriots finally decline! Right! Right?

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Don’t hold your breath.

Bill Belichick is still the head coach. Don’t be surprised if he could scheme me to a 1,000 yard season as a receiver if he tried hard enough.

All jokes aside, the Patriots still have TB12 to go along with a good mix of former first round skill players that include Sony Michel and N’Keal Harry. Stephon Gilmore will still be an All-Pro caliber corner, and the Patriots will still cruise to an easy AFC East title.

There really isn’t much more to say here.

The Patriots have earned the right to be the top of any list until Brady finally starts aging and Belichick returns to whatever football genius planet he is from. There are a few things I am sure of in this life: Han Shot first, Chick-fil-A always tastes good, and the Patriots will be good at football.

CONCLUSION

The Kansas City Chiefs have an interesting schedule. Half of the teams they play next year feature teams who had winning records in 2019. That is a tough pill to swallow.

Every year is different in the NFL, however. It is no guarantee being good in 2018 will have any impact on your 2019 performance.

Hopefully this schedule doesn’t look near as tough as the season progresses, and the Chiefs are able to go back-to-back-to-back-to-back in the AFC West.
