The reality is that any of these players could break barriers and exceed any expectations placed on them.

Miller could still tally 15 sacks or more, Rivers could lead the Chargers to their first-ever Super Bowl victory, and Antonio Brown could help turn Derek Carr into the league MVP. Mahomes could also stun everyone and throw for 60 touchdowns after improvements heading into his second year as a starter.

The ultimate reality is that likely one or none of these will really happen.

Thankfully, the KC Chiefs are at the very beginning of something great with Mahomes, while these other teams are at the backend of what they have going with these players. With the Broncos and Raiders currently rebuilding, the division race will again likely come down to the Chiefs and Chargers.

There are also other names that could take the place of the guys on this list. Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay could take a step back after exceeding expectations last year. There’s also the possibility that Raiders quarterback Derek Carr gets benched in an unstable environment under head coach Jon Gruden.

Let’s just hope that as Chiefs fans, the regression falls on the rest of the AFC West instead. It’d be great to see Kansas City take another step forward, while the others take steps back.

Outside of Miller, Rivers, and Brown, who else might be a candidate to regress in 2019?
