Kansas City Chiefs: Ranking AFC West quarterbacks in 2019
The AFC West has four talented quarterbacks, but Patrick Mahomes is without a doubt the best of the West.
Throwing over 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns speaks for itself, as Mahomes ultimately sits at number one on this list. It was a pretty easy decision, even with Philip Rivers still being at the top of his game after his 15th NFL season.

The third and fourth spot could have went either way honestly. Derek Carr had that one great season in 2016, but has dropped off since then. The Raiders could opt to move on from him when they relocate to Las Vegas, but that’s still at least a year away.
Joe Flacco was just traded from Baltimore and is probably a few poor performances away from the Broncos shifting to Drew Lock as their starter. Flacco has a Super Bowl title on his resumé, but that was in the 2012 season and he’s not that same player anymore.
So, to sum up, the top two spots were easy to decide. Mahomes and Rivers are undoubtedly the two best quarterbacks in the AFC West and both of their respective teams going 12-4 last year proves that.
