Kansas City Chiefs: Grading each offensive position in 2019
By Cullen Jekel
By bringing back the main pieces from last year’s dynamic offense, general manager Brett Veach was able to re-tool the Kansas City Chiefs’ problematic defense.

By bringing back those pieces, it also allows the flow of the Chiefs offense to continue uninterrupted. Sure, the offense will need to continue to evolve, but that shouldn’t be a problem for a group groomed and taught by head coach Andy Reid.
The most concerning part of the offense is that it’s not very deep at any one spot. Thankfully, with Mahomes under center, the skill players around him become that much better. He seems to be that type of quarterback, like Tom Brady: it doesn’t matter who he has around him because he’s going to make those guys look good, not the other way around.
The catch there, though, is that Mahomes needs to stay upright. With the Chiefs being weakest on offense along the line, that could prove tricky. But they managed it last year with mainly the same group, so hopefully it just gets better. Plus, Mahomes, with a full season under his belt, should improve his awareness and take less hits.
Maybe this offense won’t lead the league in points scored and yards gained as it did last year. But I wouldn’t bet against it.
