Mizzou Football: Drew Lock falls to Day 2 of 2019 NFL Draft
Mizzou football fans expected to see their quarterback, Drew Lock, selected in the top 15, maybe even top ten of the 2019 NFL Draft. Instead, Lock is still on the board as we head into Day 2 of the draft.
In a crazy first round of action in the 2019 NFL Draft, Missouri Tigers quarterback Drew Lock went undrafted after 32 selections. Considering how big of a deal the quarterback position is these days, it was a bit surprising to see Lock make it through the entire first round without hearing his name called.
In total, three quarterbacks went off the board:
Kyler Murray – 1st overall to Arizona
Daniel Jones – 6th overall to New York Giants
Dwayne Haskins – 15th overall to Washington Redskins

Murray and Haskins going ahead of Lock wasn’t surprising, but Daniel Jones? Where did this kid come from? I know he went to Duke and the Giants liked him because he and Eli Manning are buddies, but that seems like a bit of a reach there.
So, where are some likely destinations for Lock on Day 2 of the 2019 NFL Draft?
Well, the Raiders own the third pick in round two and that could be a possibility there. The Raiders opted not to draft a quarterback in the first round, instead addressing their defense and adding a running back to their offense.
Denver picks ninth, but it’s worth noting that they technically passed on Lock twice in the first round. They traded out of the tenth spot, swapping spots with the Steelers, and even with Lock on the board at pick 20, passed on him again.
Cincinnati owns the tenth pick and that could be potential landing spot. The Bengals have Andy Dalton, but how much longer will they roll with the Red Rifle in Cincy?
Perhaps the Miami Dolphins roll the dice on Lock at pick 16? It appears like the Dolphins have shifted their attention to next year’s quarterbacks, but if Lock is still on the board when they’re drafting, it could be hard to pass up on him.
Then there’s the scenario of another team trading up to nab Lock. He’s a good quarterback with the intangibles to really be a solid player in the pros, but he’ll need some mentoring. A Patrick Mahomes strategy (sitting behind a viable starter for a year) should be the plan for Lock, but we’ll just have to see what team drafts him and what his role will be as a rookie.
Where do you think Drew Lock will end up, Missouri fans?
