Kansas City Chiefs: Grading 2016 NFL Draft selections
By Casey Adkins
With their first pick, the Chiefs selected “Stone Cold” Chris Jones. Jones went on to have an alright rookie year, registering just two sacks to go along with 28 tackles (five for loss).
In his second year, he registered six and a half sacks, along with an interception and four forced fumbles. Jones had his best year as a pro in his third year where he recorded 15.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a pick-six that occurred against the Jaguars.
Jones is a high motor, fun guy with a knack for finding the quarterback. The Chiefs have made extending him a priority in the offseason.
Overall this pick was well worth it and so I give it an A+
The Chiefs traded down to select KeiVarae Russell in the third round, and he didn’t play a single snap in Kansas City. Russell picked up by the Bengals, where he played in 20 games total and currently has 20 career tackles and an interception.
I am going to give this pick an Incomplete because while Russell never played and was a third-round pick, there isn’t enough information for me to give this an actual grade.
