2018 NFL Draft: KC Kingdom Mock Draft

Round 1: Pick 2 – New York Jets (John McCarty)

Linebacker. Ohio State. Nick Bosa. 2. player. 30.

With the third overall selection, the New York Jets swapped spots with the San Francisco 49ers, sacrificing selection 68, but netting in return the 49ers’ fourth round selection (104) in addition to the opportunity to select second overall. The target obviously for the Jets is the top position player in the draft, Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa.

After making big moves in free agency, highlights by running back Le’Veon Bell and C.J. Mosley, the Jets needed someone on the outside. After trying and failing to land Anthony Barr in free agency, the Jets made the move to land the pass rusher and edge player they desperately need and covet.

Bosa will be able to team with Leonard Williams and Mosley to form a young, dynamic defense in the Big Apple while the offense gains it’s footing under second year quarterback Sam Darnold. Because of the trade for Bosa, along with the trade for Darnold in 2018, the Jets won’t be selecting again until 93, but then will have picks 104 and 105 quickly following.

J-E-T-S Jets Jets JETS!

Staff Reaction: I think Nick Bosa fits well with the Jets, and gives them a potential stud on the defensive side. Trading up one spot and giving up a third to do so is tough though. The 49ers just added Dee Ford and may have passed on Bosa regardless, but the Jets still got what could be the draft’s best player. – Kole
