Well, for those of you like me who were bummed about missing the first round of the draft due to going to see Avengers: Endgame, you have nothing to worry about! The Kansas City Chiefs traded out of the first round to acquire Frank Clark.

There was buzz all week long that the Kansas City Chiefs might trade out of the first round and on Tuesday afternoon, the hammer dropped. The Chiefs gave up quite the haul to obtain Frank Clark from the Seattle Seahawks.

According to Adam Schefter (see tweet below), the Chiefs traded their 29th overall pick along with one of their third rounders this year AND a 2020 second rounder in order to get Clark to Kansas City.

Whether or not you agree with this deal, it does show that the Chiefs are very much in win now mode. They have their quarterback on a rookie deal and if it weren’t for a lackluster performance from the defense in overtime last year, this team could have definitely won the Super Bowl.

This now makes it two straight years that the Chiefs won’t have a first round pick, but last year was worth it (they traded up to get Patrick Mahomes the year prior) and we don’t know if Frank Clark is worth this haul or not yet.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Clark, who turns 26 in June, was a second round pick by Seattle in 2015. Since then, he’s gone on to record 35 sacks (including 13 last year) and 136 tackles. He played in all 16 games the last two years, which is something that Dee Ford, who the Chiefs traded about a month ago, can’t say.

Clark is also younger than Ford and the production has always shone through. At the same time, however, if the Seahawks were willing to part ways with Clark, why then did the Chiefs opt to give up so much in return for him?

Yes, they need pass rush help with Ford and Justin Houston on other teams now, but this move now means that the Chiefs can shift their attention elsewhere in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Give Brett Veach credit here. The defense was awful last year and he’s brought in Tyrann Mathieu, Bashaud Breeland, Alex Okafor, Emmanuel Ogbah, and now Frank Clark. He’s trying to improve the defense, but will we see improvements while Mahomes is still on a cheap deal? That remains to be seen.

What do you think of this trade, Chiefs fans? Are you for or against Frank Clark coming to KC?
