Kansas City Chiefs: Five scenarios for first round of 2019 NFL Draft
By Kole Berrey
Scenario 4: Chiefs Stay Put, Draft….Offense?
This scenario may make Chiefs fans riot, but Veach gets his guys one way or the other. Imagine if a player like Alabama running back Josh Jacobs, Oklahoma receiver Marquise Brown or Iowa tight end Noah Fant fall to 29. These players will likely be high on the Chiefs draft board, and taking the best player available appears to be the strategy Veach likes to follow.
Marquise Brown is a particularly interesting player to consider here. He is an explosive player who compares favorably to DeSean Jackson, and would give Patrick Mahomes another weapon in the passing game. Receiver could also make sense because of Sammy Watkins’ health concerns and the uncertainty surrounding Tyreek Hill.
I personally do not think the Chiefs go offense in the first round. The Chiefs are loaded on that side of the ball, and the defense is hurting too much to ignore. The only player I could see being worth it is a guy like Brown, and if he is there, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Chiefs called his name. If the Chiefs go offense, Marquise Brown will be the pick.
