Kansas Basketball Transfer Portal Wishlist: Kerry Blackshear, Jr.

Kerry Blackshear, Jr. graduated from Virginia Tech last December but still has a year of eligibility left. The former Hokie comes with plenty of experience, with 103 games played and 72 starts. He’s averaged 24.8 minutes a game in his career, including 30 per contest last season.

At 6’10, 250 pounds, Blackshear could undoubtedly add an inside presence. He averaged 14.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, .8 blocked shots, and hit 54.5 percent of his two-point shots in the tough ACC last year. He also converted on 81percent of his free throw attempts.

There is little doubt Blackshear would make an immediate impact for the Kansas Jayhawks or any other school to which he might transfer. He does come with one big caveat, however.

According to The Roanoke Times, the second-team All-ACC player has also declared for the NBA Draft, the to test the waters there, and might still consider returning to Virginia Tech if he withdraws from the draft.

ESPN’s Jeff Borzello thinks Blackshear might be the best player available this season to transfer. If Self could reel him in, it would certainly make losing Dedric Lawson more palatable.
