One of the sillier takes surfacing this week is about how the Kansas City Chiefs should consider trading Travis Kelce. The answer is no.

Should the Kansas City Chiefs consider trading All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce? Yes, you read that headline correct.  In a world where the strangest things are being said all the time, leave it to 610 Sports own, Bob Fescoe, to have a hot take about the Chiefs trading one of their most important players in the prime of his career.

First, let me be clear by saying, I have not listened to his take on the matter nor do I care to at all. To me, this just seems like a headline grabber in a dead period time in the NFL offseason. We’re only a few weeks away from the NFL Draft and teams have gone quiet on all fronts, primarily because right now is when teams don’t want to tip their hands.

I’m guessing the only argument to trading Kelce right now is the fact that he’s 29 years old and the Chiefs should move him while they can still get good value out of him, right? That’s absolutely ridiculous and a lazy talking point in my opinion because you could literally make that argument for any player of value on any team who’s reaching their late 20’s to early 30’s.

Travis Kelce is a match-up nightmare for opposing defenses and no one utilizes his skill-set more than Andy Reid. He designs plays for him on crossing routes, isolates him on safeties and linebackers, and even tosses him bubble screens from time to time.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Kelce is coming off his best season as pro in 2018, catching 103 passes for 1,336 (2nd most for a TE in NFL History) and ten touchdowns.

So what’s the next argument? His contract and cap number? Kelce inked a 5-year, $46 million contract back in 2016, giving him a healthy salary at a fair deal for both sides. His cap number, according to sportrac.com, will be roughly $7.5 million per year over the next three years.

How in the world does that hurt the Chiefs in any way? That’s arguably the best contract that John Dorsey EVER got done in his time as a general manager and that’s saying something.

Kelce has stayed healthy too, unlike his former competition for who wore the tight end crown, Rob Gronkowski. Had this been the case, I could see a stronger argument for why trading Kelce would make sense. He’s injury prone and unreliable, which is why the Patriots were actively shopping Gronk this time last year.

Next. Chiefs as Avengers. dark

With the emergence of Patrick Mahomes at quarterback and the Kansas City Chiefs being in a win now mode, trading Kelce makes absolutely zero sense in my opinion. There is no angle you can spin at me that would sway my opinion on the matter.

What about you? Do you think the Chiefs should trade Kelce, if so why? Sound off in the comments and as always, thanks for reading!
