Kansas City Chiefs: Defensive trade targets, Part One
By Cullen Jekel
There’s more to come in the next article where I take a look at another three defensive players the Chiefs should target in trade before the draft. Yet acquiring any of Jalen Ramsey, Haason Reddick, or (and especially) Patrick Peterson would push the 2019 Chiefs defense to new heights.

Reddick would come the cheapest, both in capital to send away and in money paid. Ramsey, depending on how one views a late first-round draft pick, would come at a reasonable price, but his next deal could hamper the Chiefs. And yet, both players are just 24-years-old.
Then there’s Peterson, who turns 29 in July. He’s entering his ninth NFL season and has played and started 128 games out of a possible 128 games since entering the league out of LSU. To get him, the Chiefs would have to give up a ransom. And to keep him, the Chiefs would have to pay another ransom.
Despite facing certain constraints when it comes to paying for future seasons, the Chiefs, with over $23 million in cap room and a plethora of draft picks, should take a shot and acquire a star defensive player for 2019.
Hell–they need to take that shot.
