We did this before the fun times started in 2013 for the Royals. Who doesn’t remember following Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, Danny Duffy, and the whole gang when they were making their way through the minor leagues? Those were exciting times and now Royals fans get to do so again, only this time with Singer, Kowar, Lynch, Pratto, Melendez, Lee, and Matias.
Realistically, the Royals probably don’t see a lot of these guys on the diamond until 2021 at the earliest. Pratto, Matias, and Melendez are only 20 years old, so they have at least another year (at the minimum) in the minors.
Once the guys in Wilmington make their way to Omaha, that’ll be when the real fun begins, but that probably won’t happen for another year and a half or so. We do have Nicky Lopez and Kelvin Gutierrez to watch in Omaha, but with the whole “service time” aspect in baseball, Dayton Moore might not be in a hurry to call either of those guys up to the big leagues.
Which prospects are you most excited to follow this year, Royals fans?
