Mizzou Football: Ten NFL teams for wide receiver Emanuel Hall
By Cullen Jekel
Kansas City Chiefs
Round 2, Picks 61 & 63; Round 3, Pick 92
Nearly a week ago, I tried my hand for the fourth time at The Draft Network’s mock draft tool. When it came to pick No. 61, I noticed Emanuel Hall was still on the board as one of the top remaining wide receivers. I passed on him for Alabama’s EDGE Christian Miller. The next pick, the Saints grabbed Ohio State’s Parris Campbell.
That forced my hand.
With Chris Conley gone to Jacksonville and a cloud of uncertainty shrouding Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs may be forced into taking a wide receiver as early as No. 63, if not No. 61. In this particular mock draft, by the time the Chiefs came up in the third round at No. 92, ten wide receivers had been taken, from Ole Miss’ D.K. Metcalf at No. 15 to Massachusetts’ Andy Isabella at No. 75.

Another five wide receivers went in the fourth round, a round in which the Chiefs currently hold zero selections.
Here’s the point with having the Chiefs on this list: in this draft, the team can’t afford to ignore the offense. Having Hill, Travis Kelce, and Sammy Watkins is great, but is Demarcus Robinson going to cut it? What will the Chiefs do in 2020 when Watkins may be gone?
The time to address both of these questions is in this draft. Bring in a young guy with no other professional experience who will be open to, and able to, learn alongside Patrick Mahomes.
The Chiefs have four picks in the first three rounds of the draft. Don’t get me wrong: I am not advocating for them to use even two of those picks on offensive players. But at least one should be. And with Kelce looking as strong as ever and the backfield boasting Damien Williams, Darrel Williams, and Carlos Hyde, perhaps that pick, if not used for depth along the line, should be used on a burner capable of catching the Mahomes deep ball.
Someone like Emanuel Hall.
