Kansas City Chiefs: Allen Bailey would be welcomed back with open arms
Free agency is still afoot in the NFL and the Kansas City Chiefs might be able to land a player who seemed as good as gone. If Allen Bailey decided to return, the team and the fans would be happy to have him back.
The Kansas City Chiefs have made some nice moves in free agency, but there’s definitely still work to be done. According to Mark Daniels on Twitter, former Chiefs defensive lineman Allen Bailey could still decide to return to the team that drafted him.
Daniels tweeted on Monday morning that while Bailey was still talking to the Patriots, he was keeping his options open. Daniels mentioned that both the Chiefs and the Panthers were also interested in Bailey’s services.
Bailey has spent all eight years of his career with the KC Chiefs, which would make it even cooler if he did return. We seldom see guys play their entire careers with one team anymore, so Bailey signing a one or two year deal and remaining a Chief would be awesome.
Bailey was effective last year. The former third round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft totaled 38 tackles, ten quarterback hits, and six sacks. Statistically, it was one of Bailey’s best seasons in the pros, but the Chiefs need to get younger on defense and that’s why it seemed apparent that Bailey would be as good as gone this offseason.

While I’d predict Bailey to sign with the Patriots, the fact that the Chiefs are still throwing their hat in the ring is a good sign. It means they’re not done making moves and trying to get their defense as improved as possible.
Bailey really can’t go wrong with either of these three teams. The Chiefs and Patriots give him the best chance to get a Super Bowl ring (sorry to list the Patriots there, but until they’re dethroned, I have to keep listing them) and the Panthers have been a team known for putting good defensive products on the field.
Hopefully Allen Bailey decides to stay with the organization who drafted him because this rebuilding defense could use a seasoned veteran. Bailey, along with Chris Jones and hopefully a few notable rookies, could really turn the defense around in what’s going to be a season where the Chiefs do all they can to reach the promise land.
Obviously Brett Veach shouldn’t break the bank in order to acquire Bailey, but if they could get him on an affordable one or two year deal, sure! Let’s roll with that.
What do you think, Chiefs Kingdom? Will Allen Bailey come back to Kansas City for the 2019 season and would you be okay with that if he did?
