By making the above moves, the Chiefs would move on from $46.893 million in cap space and would open $32.436 million in cap space.

More from Chiefs Free Agency

Obviously, the Chiefs are not going to simply release Fisher or Kelce but may feel the ability to trade one or both of them if the right offer comes along. We will get an idea perhaps their motives based on what they do in the draft. If they select a tight end and/or an offensive tackle early, it may spell good-bye for the two players.

Sammy Watkins is almost assuredly going to be released after the season unless he just comes out and sets the league on fire, and even then, that may not be enough. As we have seen recently with Dee Ford, this front office will trade basically anyone at any time.

Dustin Colquitt and Tanoh Kpassagnon may not make the opening day roster this season depending on what the Chiefs do in the draft (and undrafted free agency), but likely neither is back after the 2019 season.

The Chiefs are going to continue to turn the roster over for younger personnel and for players they believe can play. We shall see what that ends up being.
