Spring Training is a time for players to get warmed up and ready to go for the regular season, but these players need to go above and beyond over the next month.

More from Kansas City Royals

Okay, we know Jorge Soler is going to make the team, but the rest of these guys aren’t guaranteed anything. Soler just needs to prove he can stay healthy. Jorge Bonifacio, who has spent the last two years in the major leagues, isn’t a shoe-in to make a plate appearance in Kansas City.

With Kyle Zimmer and Bubba Starling, we say this every year, but one would have to think this is their last shot at getting to the bigs, at least with the Royals. Both have been in the farm system for at least seven years now and it’s time to get over the hump and make it to the show.

Homer Bailey is on a minor league deal, so it won’t hurt the Royals if he doesn’t do much in Spring Training. Bailey is on the last leg of his career, so getting anything out of him would be nice.

As for Josh Staumont, this should be the year in which Royals fans finally get to see the kid in action. He has a flame throwing fastball and seeing that out of the pen would definitely boost the Royals reliever corp.
