ROUND 1 – PICK 29 (29TH OVERALL)

Tight end isn’t a position that Chiefs fans would expect the team to address in the first round, but like I mentioned on the previous slide, going after a defensive player here would have been reaching. It was simply how the mock panned out.

Right now, the Chiefs really only have Travis Kelce at tight end. Yes, Kelce is arguably the best tight end in the league, but what if something were to happen to him? Not only that, but with Demetrius Harris likely not being brought back, it makes sense to add a tight end through the 2019 NFL Draft.

T.J. Hockenson was the pick here and he’d be a tremendous backup tight end to have in Kansas City.

Hockenson had one hell of a jump from 2017 to 2018, racking up 49 receptions for 760 yards and six touchdowns this past season. He also had a rushing touchdown. Hockenson is a big dude, weighing in at 250 pounds and 6’5″. He’d be a nice option to pair with Kelce over the next few years.
