Rodney Anderson, Oklahoma

Rodney Anderson is challenging Jacobs to be the first back off the board if not for a knee injury that cost the Sooner half back almost the entirety of his 2018 season. Playing in only two games, Anderson totaled just 119 yards and three touchdowns.

However, Anderson was a force in 2017 posting 1,161 rushing yards with 16 touchdowns to go along with 281 receiving yards. Had Anderson stayed healthy this past season, he likely may be the top running back. He also missed all of the 2015 season due to a leg injury and his 2016 season ended early due to a knee injury.

Anderson, for what he has done on the field, checks all the boxes you would look for in a back. He blends together a combination of some power with some speed and elusiveness. Fluid and agile, good hands and nice power, the only issue one can point at Anderson’s game would be the pass blocking. For a player of Anderson’s size at 6’1″ and 219 pounds, one would expect him to be better.

His acceleration and burst when hitting the hole is impressive as is his patience and ability to be almost a receiver in passing situations. If he stays healthy (big, big if), Anderson could be a steal for the Chiefs.

He runs in a fashion similar to former Broncos Terrell Davis, patient to find a hole and then plant and gone. For a team with running back depth and the need for versatility, Anderson would be a strong fit for the Chiefs assuming his medical check out.
