The Kansas City Chiefs had one of their best teams in franchise history, especially on the offensive side. In total, seven Chiefs made Pro Football Focus’ list of the top 101 players from the 2018 season.

Heading into the 2018 season, there was a lot of uncertainty when it came to what the identity of the Kansas City Chiefs would be. Most of us figured the defense would struggle (which they did), but we had no idea the offense would be as good as it was.

Pro Football Focus released their list of the top 101 players from 2018 and seven members of the Kansas City Chiefs appeared on it. Here are the seven that were considered some of the best in the league this past season:

As lousy as the Chiefs defense was this past season, they had three defensive players make the rankings. Out of those three, it’s good to see Chris Jones ranked so high because he’ll for sure be with this team long-term, barring something drastic.

The jury is still out on what will happen with Dee Ford and Justin Houston moving forward, but the two combined for a combined 22 sacks this past season. Houston was dominant before signing his long-term deal, but injuries took a toll on him. This was the first truly good season he had since inking that contract years ago.

As for Ford, some fans might have considered him a bust prior to this past season. He, like Houston, was injured frequently and sometimes when he was on the field, you wouldn’t even know it. Ford exploded onto the scene during his contract season and that could have some fans skeptical when it comes to giving him a big contract.

Now, let’s look at the offensive players.

No one should be surprised at any of these players making the top 101. Patrick Mahomes is the freaking MVP of the league after throwing for over 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns. The only players ranked ahead of him on PFF’s list are Aaron Donald and DeAndre Hopkins, worthy company for sure.

Travis Kelce is the best tight end in the league (though George Kittle was ranked ahead of him) and just had his third straight 1,000 yard season, continuing to be difficult for defenders to bring down. Tyreek Hill also deserved to a top 25 player after posting a second straight 1,000 yard season. He went for over 1,400 actually. Insane.

Last, but certainly not least, Mitchell Schwartz, who is Mr. Consistency in Kansas City. The Chiefs right tackle hasn’t missed a start during his entire career. He earned his first All-Pro honors in 2018, which was long overdue.

People might not make much of these lists, but it’s cool to see so many Chiefs getting recognized on a site like Pro Football Focus.
