It’s tough when deciding which Chiefs to cut, but Brett Veach will have to make those decisions this spring.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Justin Houston is an interesting case this offseason. I don’t WANT the Chiefs to cut him, but if he’s unwilling to redo his deal, getting rid of him could make sense. Fellow KC Kingdom’er Josh Michaels wrote in detail about potentially moving on from Houston. Michaels wrote,

"Assuming the 30-year old line backer isn’t willing to restructure a deal, the Chiefs would save $14 million in immediate cap space with a dead cap number of $7.1 million in 2019."

Saving money and getting that ugly deal off the books is ideal for KC. Houston is still a productive player though, so if he can restructure his contract, then get it done, Veach.

As for the rest of the guys on this list, it’s really about production. Sorensen is a good third safety option, but can’t handle a starting workload each and every week. Ragland and Williams didn’t come in and do what they’re being paid to do, which is stopping the run.
