Kansas City Chiefs: The ugly situation with Eric Berry
This is just pure speculation, but surely the people in Berry’s camp are advising him to have the surgery done this March to fully guarantee that deal for 2019.

If there is a scenario where Berry isn’t fully ready for the start of the 2019 season, I can almost guarantee the fan base will be ready to be done with him.
This “he might play, oh he’s inactive again” scenario in 2018 was exhausting for the fans and surely for his teammates and coaches as well. Berry is a tremendous human being and an excellent leader of men on a football field, but there comes a time when enough is enough. He is costing the Chiefs a fortune with very little to no return at all.
The hope is that he comes back stronger and healthier than ever in 2019 and helps propel the Kansas City Chiefs to the Super Bowl with new defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. It’s hard to expect the 30-year old safety, who has had several surgeries, chemo therapy treatments, and hasn’t played a full season in what will be almost three years, to get back to full strength.
As the years continue to pass on that big contract and the less he plays, the uglier the situation becomes.
