CHIEFS TO RE-SIGN IN 2019 OFFSEASON –  JEFF ALLEN

Re-signing Jeff Allen could seem like another surprising entry, but offensive line depth is key in the NFL. That’s an area that gets banged up pretty easily and Allen could be the swing man, much like he was before he signed with the Texans in 2016.

Things didn’t work out for Allen in Houston and he wound up re-signing in Kansas City about midway through the 2018 campaign. He appeared in ten games and started four, mostly at left guard.

The Chiefs will have many questions to answer along their offensive line this offseason. Eric Fisher is going to be at left tackle, Austin Reiter should be the new center (yes, it’s time to move on from Mitch Morse), Laurent Duvernay-Tardif will hopefully be healthy enough to start at right guard, and of course Mitchell Schwartz will handle right tackle duties.

That leaves the left guard spot open and while Andrew Wylie should win the job there, Jeff Allen is a nice depth piece who has experience and can be plugged in to help if needed.
