Arrowhead Stadium plays host to the AFC Championship Game this weekend, as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Patriots for the rights to go to the Super Bowl. Fortunately for Chiefs fans, Tom Brady hasn’t been great at Arrowhead.

Despite being in the league since 2000, Tom Brady has only played the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium three times. During that time, he went 1-2 and looked horrendous in the two losses.

Brady’s first game in Kansas City came in 2004 and that was the only time he has won at Arrowhead. He was fine that day, throwing for 315 yards and a touchdown (both fantastic numbers back in 2004). The two games Brady has played at Arrowhead since then have not been pretty for the Patriots quarterback.

The Chiefs hosted New England again the very next season and that Sunday afternoon was not kind to Brady. KC got off to a 13-0 lead and ended up winning 26-16.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Brady threw four (count ’em, FOUR) interceptions and was sacked three times. He threw a touchdown, but it came in the fourth quarter and the game was basically out of reach by that point.

Nine years later, Brady and the Patriots traveled to Arrowhead for a Monday Night Football game. For those who don’t remember, Kansas City had one of its best weeks ever during that time, as the Chiefs CRUSHED the Patriots that night and then the Royals went on to win the Wild Card game in walk-off fashion the very next night.

That Monday night game at Arrowhead was the beginning of the “Tom Brady and the Patriots are done” talk that we’ve now heard on and off just about every week since then. Kansas City was loud that night and Brady felt it, throwing two picks, getting sacked twice, and fumbling twice (losing one of those fumbles).

The Chiefs led 17-0 at half time and ended up winning the game 41-14. Brady was so bad that he was eventually benched and it was clear from the get-go that he couldn’t handle the crowd noise.

Since that game, every time these two teams have played, it’s taken place in Foxborough, a place where Brady is comfortable. He’s not comfortable at Arrowhead and those two losses are proof that the crowd noise rattles him.

Arrowhead hosts the AFC Championship Game this weekend and if history is any indicator, Tom Brady is going to be in for a rough evening. His two poor performances at Arrowhead were in “meaningless” regular season games where the stakes weren’t all that high.

On Sunday, the Chiefs have a chance to go to their first Super Bowl since the 1969 season. The stakes are as high as they’ve ever been for Chiefs Kingdom and you better believe they’ll be bringing the heat, whether there’s an “arctic blast” or not.

Let’s get wild on Sunday, Chiefs fans, and make Tom Brady’s life a living hell.
