The Kansas City Chiefs know who they’ll be facing in the AFC Divisional Round next weekend at Arrowhead Stadium. That team is the Indianapolis Colts, who have dealt the Chiefs fits in the playoffs over the years.

While it’s nice to finally know who the Kansas City Chiefs will be hosting in the AFC Divisional Round, it’s understandable why Chiefs fans might be a bit anxious about this match-up. The Colts, who will be coming to Arrowhead after pounding the Texans in Houston in the Wild Card round, have grown accustom to handing the Chiefs heartbreaking playoff losses.

Most recently was the collapse in the 2013 season in which the Chiefs built a 38-10 lead and looked as if they’d be winning their first playoff game in 20 years. Instead, the Colts battled back and won the game by one freaking point.

Who could forget the 2003 “No Punt Game”? That also happened against the Colts and it took place at Arrowhead. It was another Chiefs team that had a tremendous offense, but one of the worst defenses in the league.

Of course, there’s also the loss at Arrowhead in the 1995 season in which the kicker who shall not be named missed three field goals. That one still hurts to this day, even for those of us who were incredibly young at the time (like yours truly).

More from Kansas City Chiefs

This is the time of year where Chiefs fans are waiting for the other shoe to drop and the Colts have been a team very good at being that other shoe. Indy looked dominant in their 21-7 victory at Houston on Saturday, making it 21-0 before the half and completely shutting down the Texans offense.

The Chiefs offense is much, much, MUCH better than Houston’s (especially at offensive line), but there’s definitely reason to worry when it comes to stopping Indy’s offense. The Chiefs defense has struggled against legitimate offenses all season long and are either last or close to last in just about every defensive statistic.

Fans all week will say that Patrick Mahomes is the difference maker, but he doesn’t play defense. If the defense can’t force a single punt or get a key turnover when needed, Mahomes can throw for 500 yards and five touchdowns and it still might not matter.

Sure, the Colts are the six-seed in the postseason, meaning that they’re the “weakest” team in the AFC bracket, but I don’t buy that whatsoever. They dominated the three-seeded Texans and have nothing to lose moving forward. That makes them incredibly dangerous.

Chiefs Kingdom needs to show up big time this weekend because that Sea of Red is going to be the best weapon against the sneaky Colts. Let’s break this bad playoff mojo against the very team that has been on the other side of it all too often.

Come on Chiefs!
