The Kansas City Chiefs have had their fair share of struggles and heartbreaks in  the playoffs in the past, but I’m here to tell you that this year feels different.

Let’s start by telling you this sad little nugget. The Kansas City Chiefs are one of two cities in the AFC to never host a conference championship game. Can you name the other city?

If you guessed Nashville, Tennessee, then you are correct!

So the Chiefs, who have existed in Kansas City since 1963 and the Tennessee Titans who have only existed in Nashville since 1997, are the only two cities in the AFC to never host a conference championship.

THE DAMN TROPHY IS NAMED AFTER THE CHIEFS LATE OWNER, LAMAR HUNT AND THEY’VE NEVER EVEN HOSTED THE STINKING GAME!!

This is the third time in my lifetime that the Chiefs have had home field advantage throughout and while this team isn’t as “complete” as those previous teams, this one has the best shot at something special because of MVP front runner, Patrick Mahomes.

I’ve been told my whole life that the Chiefs would never win anything significant until they had the right guy under center. I’ve been told after every playoff loss that it was because the other team had the better guy at quarterback. Well guess what?

NOT ANYMORE!

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes is thy chosen one, the prince who was promised, the golden arm who is supposed to deliver us from this evil and break this wretched playoff curse. He is our MahoMVP, he has given us Mahomefield advantage and dammit he will inspire a crazy Arrowhead crowd to help will his defense to victory next Saturday afternoon!

Mahomes is the reason that Kansas City fans need to let the past die, no matter the outcome. For the first time since Joe Montana, the Chiefs will have a young gun quarterback who is better or equally as good as the opponent in a huge playoff match-up!

Seeing the Chiefs get over the divisional round hump and host the AFC Championship game would be a huge milestone for this franchise and its young quarterback moving forward.

I’m not going to sit here and guarantee anything, but if you ask me if I’m confident going into next week then I say hell yes! I’m the most confident I’ve ever been because of number 15 and Mahomefield advantage.

So while some of us sit here and worry about who the Kansas City Chiefs have to play, I say forget them! No one wants to come into Arrowhead next week and play this rocket armed, supremely talented, hard to bring down, gun slinging MVP of a quarterback and all of his friends.

Just enjoy the ride KC fans because this year is different and it’s only the beginning.
