Undoubtedly the Kansas City Chiefs have the most exciting and electric young player in the NFL with quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He’s set the league on fire with his 45 touchdown passes, curly cool haircut and his ketchup loving memes.

Patrick Mahomes has dazzled us with fourth and nine throws, no look passes and left handed tosses that have kept the Kansas City Chiefs in contention all season long for their division and a chance to host potentially two playoff games at home.

You would think that those things mentioned would be enough to keep the hate away, right? The answer is most definitely not as national pundits like fox sports radio host, Colin Cowherd is trying to create a narrative that Mahomes hasn’t been able to win the big game.

Cowherd states that while he likes Mahomes and Andy Reid, he claims that “Patrick Mahomes in his first year as a starter, is now 0-3 in his three biggest games.” Cowherd continues by saying “at the end of the game Philip Rivers was the better quarterback. Brady was the better quarterback. Goff was the better quarterback. Remember that?”

A couple of things, first just for some context here, the Chiefs were down 15 points at half time at New England and Mahomes led them on a wild and wicked comeback that included the Chiefs making it a tie game late in the fourth quarter.

Colin also seems to forget that if Orlando Scandrick catches a game winning interception off of Goff, who himself had three turnovers in that game, the Chiefs would be 12-2 right now.

If the Chiefs could’ve come up with one stop last week in the fourth quarter, that included two fourth down opportunities, the Chiefs are potentially 12-2. And what about that Denver game on Monday night when Mahomes brought the Chiefs back from down ten on the road in a hostile environment? I guess that one doesn’t count as one of his biggest games this year.

This early narrative being created that he can’t win the big game is absolutely ridiculous and Kansas City Chiefs fans shouldn’t buy into it. If someone comes up to me and says “Mahomes can’t win the big one!” I will literally laugh in their faces.

More from Patrick Mahomes

The young man is 23 years old with only 16, I repeat SIXTEEN, starts under his belt and he’s never started a playoff game. His only three losses have been to opponents with a combined record of 31-11 and by a combined total of seven points. Oh yeah and two of which were on the road in primetime.

Mahomes is the ONLY reason the Chiefs are in the position they are in with the defense they display each week. He’s protecting one of the leagues worst defenses to the tune of an 11-3 record and a potential one seed in the AFC.

Can someone tell me how to spell MVP? Oh yeah its M-A-H-O-M-E-S.

So while Cowherd wants to create this narrative that Patrick Mahomes is “Flash with little substance” don’t buy it. Just remember that the best young quarterback finally plays for your favorite team and Cowherd is trying to light a fire under the NFL’s hottest market.
