Patrick Mahomes captured his second MVP trophy last year en route to his second Super Bowl as well. He’s among the favorites to win MVP once again and now is the ideal time to back the Chiefs’ signal caller.

After Joe Burrow suffered a calf injury yesterday that could force him to miss time, I’m jumping on Mahomes to win MVP at +700 before the odds can move.

Bet Patrick Mahomes to Win MVP

Last season felt like an official passing of the torch to Mahomes. Entering the year, there was still some nationwide debate about who the league’s best quarterback was. Now, the world unanimously knows what Chiefs fans knew all along: Mahomes is the king.

Similar to how the AL MVP award in baseball seemed like Shohei Ohtani’s to lose, Mahomes is head-and-shoulders above the field.

Listed at +700 at FanDuel Sportsbook, I think Mahomes should be closer to the +400 range. We’re essentially buying Mahomes at his floor, especially given the uncertainty around Burrow.

If Burrow’s injury lingers into the season and forces him to miss the start of the year, Mahomes’ odds will only shorten. Unless Mahomes suffers some injury himself, it’s difficult to imagine him not being in the race at the end of the season. Thus, the time to buy his stock is right now.

Mahomes had a career year in 2022-23, leading the NFL in passing yards by over 500 yards and in passing touchdowns by six. Even if his numbers take a slight dip backward, he was so far ahead of the field that he could still lead the league in both categories.

The offensive line should be improved after bringing in Jawaan Taylor and reasonable improvements can be expected from players like Skyy Moore and Marquez Valdes-Scantling with another year in the system.

This may be the Chiefs’ best roster in the Mahomes era. If Kansas City secures the AFC’s No. 1 seed once again behind another great season from Mahomes, he’ll be in line to win his third MVP award.

Simply put, it’s time to bet on Mahomes to maximize the odds value. If you wait much longer, Burrow’s injury may force oddsmakers to adjust the line and you’ll miss your chance.
