Even with the Kansas City Chiefs dropping their Thursday night game against the Chargers, the good guys are still holding tightly onto that number one seed. What do the rest of the standings look like?

The loss on Thursday night sucked, but the Kansas City Chiefs are still the top seed in the AFC playoffs as of now. With the Monday night game being a match-up between two NFC teams, we can officially look at the playoff standings in the AFC after week 15.

  1. Kansas City Chiefs (11-3) – BYE
  2. Houston Texans (10-4) – BYE
  3. New England Patriots (9-5)
  4. Pittsburgh Steelers (8-5-1)
  5. Los Angeles Chargers (11-3)
  6. Baltimore Ravens (8-6)

IN THE HUNT: Indianapolis Colts (8-6), Tennessee Titans (8-6), Miami Dolphins (7-7)

Well, for the first time in several weeks, we have movement in the standings! The Houston Texans now sit in the two-seed after the Patriots lost to Pittsburgh in the late slate of games. That loss bumped New England down to the three-seed.

The Wild Card teams remain the same even with LA winning, but now the Chiefs can’t afford to lose another game if they want the number one seed. Los Angeles beating them on Thursday has made it as close of a race as possible, but there are still two games left for everyone so that’s a lot of time to see how everything plays out.

I only included three teams in the hunt mainly because I don’t see the Browns or Bengals actually making it to the postseason. Props to them for both staying somewhat in the hunt though. Denver officially has no shot after falling to Cleveland on Saturday.

Here are who the six seeds will play in week 16:

More from Kansas City Chiefs

  1. Chiefs at Seahawks
  2. Texans at Eagles
  3. Patriots vs Bills
  4. Steelers at Saints
  5. Chargers vs Ravens
  6. Ravens at Chargers

Aside from Patriots/Bills, these are all really good games!

The Kansas City Chiefs square off with the 8-6 Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football in what should be a really fun offensive game. The Chiefs need to win that one and hope that the Chargers lose a tough match-up against the Ravens, who are fighting to keep their playoff spot.

The Texans moved up to the two-seed after handling the Jets on Saturday and now they’ll have to take down the Super Bowl champs in order to hold onto it. Houston is looking tougher each week and that’s not a team I’d want to face in the postseason.

Pittsburgh made all of Chiefs Kingdom breathe a sigh of relief when they knocked off the Patriots on Sunday evening. It’s a shame they couldn’t have done that to the Chargers a few weeks ago, but hey, we’ll take any help we can get, right?

Next. Time for a Defensive Change. dark

It won’t be easy hanging onto the number one overall seed, but the Kansas City Chiefs have to do their best to secure it. Having home field advantage at Arrowhead Stadium throughout the playoffs would be huge.

Do you think KC clinches home field or will they be playing as a Wild Card in a few weeks?
