While it was a closer win than Chiefs Kingdom was hoping for, a win is a win and that’s all that matters right now for a team trying to hold their top spot in the AFC playoffs.

With the New England Patriots heating up at the worst time for the Chiefs, it’s so crucial for Kansas City to keep winning. Not only that, but the Houston Texans are also refusing to lose and that number one seed in the AFC is likely going to come down to the final week of the season.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

This game wasn’t pretty for the Kansas City Chiefs, but they came out on top and that’s all that matters. They allowed the Raiders to stay in it though and that’s not a good sign.

The Raiders have won two games all season and hung with the Chiefs throughout. Failing to put away a bad team isn’t instilling confidence in me that this team can hold the top spot in the conference come playoff time.

After the events that surfaced last Friday, however, simply winning this game was huge for a Chiefs team that needed to add to their win total. They might have allowed Oakland to hang around, but they still won and now have double digit wins for the fourth straight season.

Next up for the 10-2 Chiefs is a home game against the Baltimore Ravens next Sunday. The Ravens are 7-5 and currently the sixth seed in the AFC playoffs. The quarterback situation in Baltimore will be the storyline to watch for next weekend’s game, but either way, this won’t be an easy game for the Chiefs.

With the win over Oakland, however, the Chief move to 4-0 against the AFC West this season. Can they make it a perfect 6-0?
