Kansas City Chiefs have to take care of business against Oakland Raiders

The Kansas City Chiefs are 9-2 and will travel to the Black Hole to face the 2-9 Oakland Raiders. This is a game that the Chiefs have to dominate from the start.

Whether they’re both good, bad, mediocre, or we have a situation this year where the Kansas City Chiefs are head and shoulders above the Oakland Raiders, these two teams always play each other tough. At least when the game takes place in Oakland.

That’s why, despite the Chiefs being a 15-point favorite (according to OddsShark) over the Raiders, this isn’t a game that should come down to the wire like some Chiefs games have this year. When push comes to shove, the Chiefs are the better team and they should DESTROY Oakland this weekend.

While last year’s week seven loss at Oakland wasn’t fun, at least the Raiders were a respectable team at that point of the season. Winning that game salvaged Oakland’s season and gave them life in the AFC playoff race.

This year, however, things are much different. The Raiders are a dumpster fire. They traded Khalil Mack prior to the season and sent Amari Cooper to Dallas at the trade deadline. Jon Gruden had no problem trading two of the most popular Raiders in his first year as the head coach.

Oakland has won just two games this year, and honestly should only have one win. The Browns were hosed in that Raiders overtime win earlier in the season. If you take the Raiders’ record now, 2-9, and flip it around, that’s the Chiefs’ record.

The 9-2 Chiefs have relied mostly on offense this season, but their defense has stepped up at times. They forced key turnovers in both wins over the Broncos, against the Browns, and against Arizona. The pass rush has also been able to create pressure too, which has resulted in opposing quarterbacks getting sacked more than we saw last year.

Looking at the Raiders, they’re just blah. Their offense is hit or miss with sometimes posting explosive numbers, but other times barely doing much of anything. Their defense is mostly bad, getting scorched by 49ers third string quarterback Nick Mullens in his first ever NFL start last month.

If Mullens was able to shred the Raiders defense to the tune of 262 yards and three touchdowns with zero turnovers, just IMAGINE what Patrick Mahomes will do to them. Mahomes can put up those numbers in his sleep.

The moral of the story here is that the Kansas City Chiefs have ZERO business losing to the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. I know they’re division rivals and blah blah blah, but the Chiefs are good and the Raiders are bad.

If this team wants to prove they’re for real this time around, they have to not only win this game, but win it convincingly. They can’t narrowly escape the Black Hole with a victory. They have to demolish the Raiders and make sure this game is over before Raiders fans can even blink.
