Nebraska football blew out their opponent last week, but that will tough this Saturday, as the Cornhuskers host the defensive savvy Michigan State Spartans.

Somehow, the 2018 college football season is nearing the end, as Nebraska football has just two games remaining in the season. It’s been an up and down year for the Huskers under Scott Frost, but after their 0-6 start, winning three of their last four games seems promising for what the future has in store for Nebraska in the years to come.

This weekend’s match-up could be tough for Nebraska to add to their win total, as Michigan State is coming to Lincoln and they’ve been ranked on and off throughout the 2018 season. The Spartans are coming off one of their more embarrassing losses of the year, however, dropping a game to Ohio State by a score of 26-6.

If there’s something that should REALLY give Nebraska fans hope for this weekend, it’s that Nebraska played Ohio State way closer than the Spartans did. That’s reassuring for sure.

Now, let’s take a look at what to watch for on Saturday in the final home game of the year for Nebraska.

THREE THINGS TO WATCH VS MICHIGAN STATE

NUMBER 3 – SPECIAL TEAMS SHOWING IMPROVEMENT

The Huskers have looked better as a whole recently, but one of the biggest liabilities through the first two months of the season was easily the special teams unit. From missed field goals to botched kickoffs to just sloppy play in the return game, Nebraska’s special teams were hurting the team.

Last week was arguably the special teams’ best outing, however, especially for kicker Barret Pickering. The freshman kicker connected on the one field goal he was asked to convert and knocked through all seven extra point attempts.

This is an area that has needed extra focus throughout the season, but they looked better last week. Can they keep it going on Saturday?
