OTHER NAMES

Adeiny Hechavarría, INF– The Royals love, love, LOVE them some no-hit, quality glove shortstops. With Adalberto Mondesi likely starting at shortstop and questions who will play second (Royals should trade Whit Merrifield), Hechavarria could make sense. He is a quality defender and can likely play multiple positions defensively. He’s the perfect bench player.

More from Kansas City Royals

Nelson Cruz, DH– The Royals love designated hitters and with a roster in flux at a lot of spots, do the Royals look at a possible low cost bat on a short-term deal? Does he really serve any purpose? Perhaps not.

Matt Harvey, P– Perhaps he’s resurrected his career with the Reds after everything fell apart in New York. Could a big stadium, quality defense, and a bad hitting division help Harvey rediscover the magic? Does the organization want his personality in a still-rebuilding clubhouse?

It’ll be interesting to see who the Kansas City Royals opt to bring in via free agency, but they need to make a few moves. More than likely, the Royals will address mostly the bullpen, as the position players appear to be set.
