By John McCarty
A few other candidates for the Kansas football job could be Paul Johnson of Georgia Tech or Jeff Monken of Army.

Perhaps if Georgia Tech decides to move on from Paul Johnson, he would be interested in the job at Kansas. Jeff Monken at Army is another name that would make sense if Kansas wanted to go against the grain.
Army runs the same style of offense and Monken has experience coaching at a program other than a service academy, having spent time at Georgia Tech and Navy among his previous stops.
The question, in the end, is who will take the job? Does Les Miles being the coach for the next three to five years bring it to a point that when the time comes to replace him, the Jayhawks can legitimately target a strong, younger candidate?
That is what Les Miles would be doing at Kansas, and as long as everyone involves understands the role, well, than perhaps Les will be more in Lawrence.
It appears Miles is the favorite as of now (per the tweet on the first slide), but he is 65 years old. It’ll be interesting to see what route the Jayhawks decide to go, but the university has to get it right this time.
