Nebraska fans have a whole new outlook on the 2018 season. A two-game winning streak will do that for a fan base.

As of Thursday evening, the Buckeyes are favored by 18 points, according to Odds Shark. Considering Ohio State is ranked in the top ten and Nebraska was once a lowly 0-6, this doesn’t seem like too much shade being thrown at the Huskers.

More from Nebraska Cornhuskers

Nebraska hasn’t fared great against the Buckeyes not only since their move to the Big Ten, but in general. The Huskers have only defeated Ohio State once and that came in 2011, Nebraska’s first season in the Big Ten.

Since then, Ohio State has not only had the Cornhuskers’ numbers, but they’ve destroyed them in their meetings. The last two years have been blowout Buckeye wins, with OSU winning 56-14 last year and 62-3 in 2016. Even in 2015, Ohio State handled Nebraska pretty easily, but the Huskers put up more of a fight than usual with the score being 63-38 in favor of the Buckeyes.

If I’m an Ohio State fan, I’m nervous for this game. Nebraska has little to lose this weekend while Ohio State has EVERYTHING to lose. If the Buckeyes drop another game, they’re not going to the College Football Playoff. That will obviously be weighing on those players’ minds as the Huskers come to town, hoping for the upset.

Obviously it’d be great to win this weekend for many reasons. Winning is fun. If Nebraska somehow could take down Ohio State, that’d give this fan base tons of hope moving forward. It’d also keep Nebraska in bowl contention, which won’t happen if they drop Saturday’s game.

While Ohio State will probably win this weekend, it hopefully won’t be as bad as years past. Let’s give the Buckeyes all they can handle!

Go Big Red!
