Nebraska Football: Five things to watch vs Minnesota Golden Gophers
FIVE THINGS TO WATCH VS MINNESOTA
NUMBER 3 – GIVE THE BALL TO OZIGBO
Maybe I’m “aging” myself here, but when I was a kid, there was a popular kid’s show called “Hey, Arnold!”. In one of those episodes, Arnold played on a basketball team where the head coach constantly wanted everyone to give the ball to his son Tucker. “Give the ball to Tucker” was uttered frequently throughout the episode.
Well, I’m starting the “Give the ball to Ozigbo” slogan if it hasn’t been started already. This guy has been on fire for the Cornhuskers and gashed the Wildcats on the ground last week to the tune of 159 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries.
Nebraska made the decision to elevate Devine Ozigbo as the only starting running back and now they need to keep feeding him. Minnesota did a nice job at limiting Ohio State’s run game a week ago, but the Buckeyes are more of a passing team anyway and they saw they could do more damage through the air, so they stuck with that.
Ozigbo is Nebraska’s toughest weapon on offense (might be in a close battle with JD Spielman) and they need to take advantage of having him on board. Feed Ozigbo!
