As much as Chiefs Kingdom might disagree, we all knew deep down that the Kansas City Chiefs weren’t going 16-0. Now it’s official though and the 5-1 Chiefs have another primetime affair next Sunday night.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

KC was down 24-9 at half time and it seemed pretty bleak. At one point I was even thinking of being the Negative Nancy you’ve all come to hate and dig out my “Patrick Mahomes regression” piece just to say “I told you so”.

Fortunately, the Chiefs offense came to life and made a game of it in the second half, but it wasn’t enough. Had the Chiefs defense been able to force a single Patriots punt, we might be singing a different tune today, but that wasn’t the case.

Next up for the 5-1 Kansas City Chiefs is a Sunday night home game at Arrowhead against the 4-2 Cincinnati Bengals. Cincy is coming off a last second heartbreaking loss to the Steelers and will be looking for redemption. .

Next. Chiefs had a weak offseason in 2018. dark

One last note on this loss: Obviously it sucks to lose, but it was bound to happen at some point. It’s tough for me to have high hopes for this team down the stretch because the defense is just so, so, so bad. Like, really bad.

Let’s hope Kansas City can bounce back next week and redeem themselves on Sunday Night Football!
