Chiefs will have work to do

More from Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs have a slew of free agents to deal with this offseason. A lot of them. Names like Dee Ford, Allen Baliey, Harrison Butker, Mitch Morse, Chris Conley, Steven Nelson, Orlando Scandrick and Anthony Sherman are on the list. (The List). So while everyone is excited about the young future, decisions will have to be made and a draft will need to fix a lot of holes.

Currently, our beloved Chiefs have a decent amount of money under the salary cap after this season, $44.7 million. They will need to address multiple areas both in starters and also to add depth to the roster. Perhaps this will not be the year to go crazy on a couple players but will also be a good off season to find cheaper, younger depth type players.

Also, this offseason needs to find extensions for the multitude of players needing extensions, highlighted by Tyreek Hill and Kendall Fuller. With the available cap room, Veach needs to take advantage and get these deals done now.

Every offseason is different, and this year will be no different.  Instead of thinking they have a quarterback, they know they do. No longer do the Chiefs have to re-sign every player or sign every free agent. Keep the cap space for players that are vital and for free agents that can make a big impact and use draft picks to fill out the roster.
