While it’s not as much fun when the Kansas City Royals aren’t in the postseason, fans can still latch onto the former players and pull for them to do well.

More from Kansas City Royals

It was a little weird when compiling this list because there was only one former Royal on any of the the American League rosters this postseason and that was Melky Cabrera. That’s assuming I didn’t miss any minor ones (I don’t think I did), but most of the former KC guys are taking at bats or the mound in the National League this October.

Maybe that isn’t too surprising considering teams don’t want to trade within the division and maybe not even the conference if at all possible. The Astros and Red Sox also both have stacked rosters and didn’t really need anyone the Royals had over the last few seasons.

Obviously the Brewers have the most former Royals on their team and that’s going to be why Kansas City is temporarily rooting for the Brewers. Lorenzo Cain and Mike Moustakas have a chance to win another World Series and that’s something every Royals fan wants to see.

The MLB playoffs are beginning and it should be an exciting month! Hopefully the former Royals taking part in this year’s postseason can make an impact and give Kansas City something to cheer about!
