Six players on the Lexington Legends roster could become big time players for the Kansas City Royals when they’re ready to compete again.

More from Kansas City Royals

Originally I had eight players on this list. Ashe Russell was a part of that initial list, but he didn’t pitch at all for the Royals in 2018.

Russell was the team’s first round pick in 2015, but quit the sport in 2016 after a rough start. He returned this year, but I’m not entirely sure he’ll ever be a difference maker for the Royals.

Jackson Lueck was someone I left off, but he could be someone worth watching. He didn’t play for Lexington at all this year, but was on their roster. Him not taking any at bats for the Legends was why I left him off of here, but the outfielder could provide even more depth for the boys in blue.

After seeing the Lexington Legends win a title this year, how could Royals fans not think back to the glory days of Hosmer, Moustakas, Duffy, Perez, and the others in the minor leagues and how they won titles? Look at what those guys did together in both the minors and the majors. They developed together and won together and that’s important in baseball.

It’d be great if these guys could provide for the future Royals what Hosmer, Moose, and the others did for the past Royals teams. The future looks bright for the Kansas City Royals!
