FIVE THINGS TO WATCH VS PURDUE

NUMBER 4 – KEEP IT GOING, D!

A weakness for Mizzou last year was their defense, but so far, it’s been a strength. They held Wyoming to just 13 points last week (all coming in the second half) and the week prior allowed UT-Martin to put up 14 total points on the day.

Purdue’s offense has not been good this season and that should have the Missouri defense licking its chops. The passing defense in particular should be at the top of its game, as Purdue’s passing game was nearly non-existent last week.

Between two quarterbacks, the Boilermakers completed just 14 of 24 passes for 135 yards and one touchdown. Not exactly mind popping numbers and MU has to continue making Purdue quarterbacks look bad.

We’ll touch more on the Purdue running game in a bit, but that is absolutely an area where the Tigers will have their toughest challenge yet. They’ve fared well against the run so far, but again, they haven’t had real difficult tasks there, especially considering Nico Evans didn’t play last week.

Will the Tigers be up to the challenge of stopping the electric Purdue running backs? More on this in a bit.
