Kansas Football: Potential head coach candidates to replace David Beaty
By John McCarty
While Jayhawk fans are going to bring up hiring guys like Les Miles and Bret Bileama, are they willing to do the work at a place like KU that is required to win games? Both guys have made a bunch of money already in their careers and anyone should be terrified of a Charlie Weis level money grab.

Whomever is the next guy at KU, it needs to be someone that wants to do the leg work, the grunt work, to do the recruiting necessary to win games. The program also needs to be willing to give whoever they hire the time to turn the program around. We’ve seen KU give David Beaty more than enough opportunities to prove himself, but it just hasn’t worked out.
If I’m the Athletic Director at Kansas, my first call is to Willie Frtiz. He has experience as a head coach, experience working with perhaps under talented kids, and his scheme could work in Lawrence both in the short and long-term.
He also would likely bring assistants that have recruiting in vital recruiting grounds and could theoretically take over for Fritz once he decided to move on. This is a move that would make sense for both sides, but will Kansas reach out to him and would Fritz accept? Only time will tell.
