The Kansas City Chiefs take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon. Here are five keys to the Chiefs winning, and starting 1-0.

The Kansas City Chiefs will kick off the regular season by taking on the Los Angeles Chargers at the StubHub Center on Sunday afternoon. The Chiefs have dominated the rivalry over the last four seasons winning eight straight, but coming out with a victory on Sunday likely won’t be an easy task.

Los Angeles is favored by the national media to win the AFC West, but before they can do that they have to succeed within the division. Luckily for Chiefs fans, Andy Reid is 16 of 18 of his recent AFC West games and 4-1 in the first regular season game since coming to Kansas City. He’s had plenty of time to gameplan for the Chargers, a team that is very familiar.

Kansas City has an advantage playing their biggest competition within the division Week 1. With Patrick Mahomes taking over the offense, and a revamped defense, nobody outside of the Kansas City locker room knows what either side of the ball will look like in 2018. The defense seems to be more aggressive up front, and the offense will be completely different under Mahomes.

The victor of this game will have a head start on the division. Kansas City has a tough schedule for the first six weeks of the season, and starting off with a win over the team most likely to challenge them in the West would go a long way. Here are my five keys to beating the Chargers on Sunday.
