FIVE THINGS TO WATCH VS AKRON

NUMBER 5 – DON’T LET THE ZIPS HANG AROUND

It was more than frustrating last year when Nebraska couldn’t put teams away, not even the smaller schools. In their opening game last year, Arkansas State hung around until the very end of the game. That was not a good sign of what was to come.

In the third week of the season, Northern Illinois actually came into Lincoln and beat the Huskers. Those are things that shouldn’t happen.

If Nebraska allows Akron to hang with them throughout the entire game, it could be a rough season, Husker fans. The defense needs to step up and make plays early and shut down any hope the Zips might have at coming into Lincoln and forcing the upset.

The Nebraska offense needs to do its part too and put up points. They’re a Power 5 school and should not allow a team from the MAC to keep them out of the end zone.

If Nebraska wins this game in a blowout, that’s a great sign because it means the Huskers are doing exactly what they’re supposed to be doing and that’s beating up on the little guys. After last year, I’ll gladly watch a game where Nebraska is winning by 40 points at half time. GLADLY.
