Kansas City Royals: 2019 schedule has been released
The Kansas City Royals’ 2018 season is basically over, so why not look toward the future? Major League Baseball released their 2019 schedule on Thursday and the Royals have some fun series next year.
For one, the Kansas City Royals will a true Opening Day at Kauffman Stadium, which will be on March 28th against the Chicago White Sox. Hopefully this Opening Day will go better than 2018’s where it was cold and rainy the entire time. Not to mention the game was a dud.
Other schedule highlights include a game that will be played in Omaha (more on that in a bit) and road trips to Washington D.C., Atlanta, and Miami as the Royals square off with the National League East this year. Out of those NL East teams, the Royals will host the Braves and Mets at the K.
Back to the Omaha game, it was announced earlier this summer that the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers would play a game in Omaha, Nebraska in 2019. Omaha is the host city for the College World Series every summer and are also the home of the Royals’ Triple-A affiliate (the Storm Chasers). They’ve proven that they’re a passionate baseball city, so this was a good move by the Major League Baseball.

That game will take place on Thursday, June 13, shortly before the College World Series is set to begin. This is something that the MLB is hoping catches on and it was smart of them to pick the Royals and Tigers to be the first two participants in this experiment.
As for the big fan bases that will be swarming the K next summer, the Yankees come to town over Memorial Day weekend, the Red Sox will be in KC from June 4-6, and the Cardinals will visit from the other side of the state on August 13 and 14.
For those of you wanting to travel to a game next year (if you’re not planning on counting Omaha as the road trip), the Royals have a few unique teams they’re playing. Anyone feeling patriotic could watch our Royals play in our nation’s capital right after the 4th of July, as the Nationals host the Royals July 5-7. That’s also right before the All-Star Game.
The Royals also travel to Atlanta on July 23 and 24 and have a late season road trip to Miami from September 6-8. Those are for the fans who want to see some interleague play.
The 2019 season probably won’t be a real exciting one for the Kansas City Royals, but they have some games worth checking out next season. I usually try to make it to Kauffman Stadium for four or five games a year and will probably do so next year even with it being a down year.
