It’s Patrick Mahomes time baby! KC Chiefs finally got to see that beautiful arm of Mahomes on Friday night, as the new signal caller ended the first half with an amazing touchdown pass.

It was a pretty blah first half for the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday night against the Atlanta Falcons in their second preseason game, but it ended on the highest of highs for the good guys. Patrick Mahomes had shown promise on the first drive, but the second drive ended quickly after he threw a pick.

Mahomes’ third and final drive of the game came with just over a minute left in the half. After throwing an interception on the previous drive, it wouldn’t have been surprising for Andy Reid and company to play it safe, but he let Mahomes go out there and do his thing.

After a few plays that resulted in a few first downs, Mahomes really let the pigskin fly. Fly it did. On second down and with 28 seconds remaining in the half, the KC Chiefs franchise quarterback pulled this out of his bag of tricks.

OH YEAH! That was awesome!

More from Kansas City Chiefs

That was the first of many, many Mahomes to Tyreek Hill touchdowns we’ll be seeing over the next few years, but you know what they say… You never forget your first. That play was magnificent, as Mahomes put some juice on that ball and got it all the way down the field to a wide open Hill.

We all know that with Hill’s speed, no one was catching him. To be fair though, he was basically right in the end zone when the ball was coming to him.

Mahomes looked poised and comfortable in his second preseason start and that’s a great sign for Chiefs Kingdom. This was the only long completion he had, but it came at the perfect time. Fans were kind of down on the lack of offensive explosion on the first two drives and at how less than stellar the defense looked on their first few drives.

Mahomes ended his night going 8/12 for 138 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. The touchdown will be discussed constantly over the next week and Chiefs fans have every right to be excited over it. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a quarterback who was OUR guy.

Fans got to see Mahomes air it out last preseason and in the week 17 finale against the Broncos last year, but it’s different now. He’s actually the starter now and that means we’ll HOPEFULLY be seeing throws like this on a regular basis.
