Kansas City Chiefs: Injuries Continue To Limit Young Players At Training Camp
The Kansas City Chiefs continue to suffer injuries at training camp with defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi and wide receiver Marcus Kemp leaving practice.
The Kansas City Chiefs have position battles at numerous positions during training camp and preseason this year. The defensive side of the ball saw an overhaul of talent this offseason which will mean a lot of new faces starting on defense. As the Chiefs have moved to training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri, the team has already suffered numerous injuries.
Most of the injuries aren’t severe and more of precautionary moves to prevent more serious injuries. At the start of camp, Kansas City was without linebacker Reggie Ragland on the field due to his knee swelling up on the plane ride. He has still yet to hit the field with the team, and the team continues to call it a day to day.

Rookie safety Armani Watts was injured on the first day of camp last Monday but has returned to practice. Running back Charcandrick West suffered a concussion this week and has yet to return to practice. These three players are likely the most significant injured players to possible starters in the upcoming season.
Multiple players left practice early today including rookie defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi with an elbow injury and wide receiver Marcus Kemp with an ankle injury. Linebacker Ukeme Eligwe was another player that didn’t practice on Wednesday with a foot strain.
Nnadi is a player that fans would love to see come into games early, but will likely be sitting behind Xavier Williams to start the season. Kemp has a high hill to climb with the talent at the wide receiver position. He showed some spark plays last season with quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the preseason and training camp, but is a longshot to make the final roster in 2018.
Kansas City also decided to waive cornerback Ashton Lampkin who is returning from an injury suffered last preseason today. Many fans were interested to see if Lampkin could continue his flash plays from last year, but the team waived him before practice on Wednesday and signed linebacker Otha Peters.
The most significant injury to watch is the star running back Kareem Hunt who is still nursing a hamstring injury suffered in May. He’s participating in individual drills, but the team is keeping him off the field for contact plays.
